Every Orlando vacation should be laid back, and no place embodies that spirit more than Jimmy Buffet’s® Margaritaville®, where masterpieces by Florida’s favorite son come to life in every nook and cranny. From its three bars – The Volcano Bar, Land Shark Bar and 12-Volt Bar – to the themed food and drinks – A Cheeseburger in Paradise, and of course, a variety of Margarita choices – to the nightly live music – you will get into the “Margaritaville State of Mind” in no time.

Mardi Gras at Universal Orlando

The Universal Orlando Resort has some of the best events and celebrations in town, from special holiday events like Halloween Horror Nights to Grinchmas every Christmas at the two Universal theme parks. From the floats to the beads, the Universal Orlando Resort brings the spirit of Mardi Gras and the Big Easy down to Central Florida each Spring!

If you are planning a trip to the Sunshine State before April 19, your vacations plans need to include a trip to Universal Studios for all of the Mardi Gras action. In fact, all that lies between you and the party of your life is a ticket into the theme park! And while it may be good news that you no longer have to travel to New Orleans to get a feel for Mardi Gras, even better news may be on the horizon. Right here at DWTickets.com, we provide discounted tickets to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, along with all of the other top attractions in Orlando. Because we are the No. 1 online source for discounted theme park tickets, you won’t find any better deals anywhere else! A French Quarter Courtyard serves as the center of the party, with a Bourbon Street-feel that includes tantalizing performers direct from Louisiana and authentic Cajun cuisine!

And of course, what would a Mardi Gras celebration be without a parade? Each evening, this highlight of Mardi Gras winds its way through the streets of Universal Studios with floats direct from New Orleans right alongside floats that represent this year’s theme, “Discovering Utopia.” This one-of-a-kind parade is complete with colorful costumes, towering stilt walkers, dancers, street performers and float riders tossing handfuls of beads to parade-goers in the park.

In addition to the above festivities, Mardi Gras also features a popular act each week that headlines the Universal Studios 2008 Mardi Gras concert series. Upcoming performers include:

  • Mar. 22 – Kool and the Gang
  • Mar. 29 – Heart
  • Apr. 5 – Huey Lewis and the News
  • Apr. 12 – LL Cool J
  • Apr. 19 – Earth, Wind & Fire
Universal’s CityWalk even gets into the action, as Pat O’Brien’s serves at the official CityWalk Mardi Gras headquarters. The exact replica of the famed New Orleans watering hole has a Mardi Gras theme 365 days a year. Visitors can enjoy Hurricanes on the Patio Bar with the famous flaming fountains, eat Cajun favorites in the Main Bar or join the gang in a sing-along in the Piano Lounge to celebrate the special occasion.

Universal Studios’ Mardi Gras is ending soon, so hurry up and purchase your tickets right here! But, just because all good things must come to an end doesn’t mean that the fun at the Universal Orlando Resort stops there. Walt Disney World Vacations With Toddlers

What you need to know before you bring your little one to Walt Disney World
and where to find your cheap Disney tickets

Of course Disney World is for kids, but once you’re here things aren’t that simple. What is simple? Our discount Disney tickets and our great advice for your Disney vacation.

For starters, by toddler we mean three years old and under. We’re talking little ones here, but your tiny tike can become a big deal on your Walt Disney World trip if you aren’t careful.

Every Magic Kingdom Land has Fun for the Little Ones
No matter where you go in Disney’s Magic Kingdom, there is toddler-appropriate entertainment and attractions.

Mickey’s Toontown Fair is kid heaven. The Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm is a fantastic first coaster, and parents can ride too!

Fantasyland is full of kid-errific attractions. You may want to avoid Snow White’s Scary Adventures, though. It’s dark and very small children might not find it so enchanting.

Mickey’s Philharmagic is a uniquely amazing show, but it gets loud so we recommend lap sitting in here.

Beware of Stroller-free Zones at Walt Disney World
Some of Disney World’s rides and shows prefer that you leave your tot’s transport outside the door. Keep this in mind when riding the Walt Disney World Railroad. Opt for the ride around the entire Magic Kingdom, and your stroller will be waiting for you.

Take Advantage of Kid-swapping at Disney’s Big-kid Attractions
Many of the rides that appeal to grown ups aren’t so much fun for a 2-year-old (Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain). Disney has the answer though. One parent watches the kids while one rides, and then you switch. Brilliant!

Even at Disney World Little Ones Have Their Limits
There is so much to do at the Walt Disney World Resort, it’s easy to keep going and going and going – picture the Energizer bunny in Mickey Mouse ears. Don’t try and do it all in one day, or even in one trip. Enjoy what you can fit in a reasonable amount of time and save some excitement for your next Orlando vacation.

As long as you get all of your discount Disney tickets at DWTickets.com, you will have plenty of money left over to come back again soon!

Saint Patricks Day at Disney

Spending any day at the Walt Disney World Resort is a treat but imagine spending a holiday there Disney goes above and beyond to make guests who are spending holidays in Central Florida feel extra special by hosting special events around the parks and at Downtown Disney and with special theme park hours as well. And while St. Patrick’s Day may not be on the same level as Thanksgiving or Christmas, the Walt Disney World Resort does have some special plans up its sleeves for anyone who wants to feel the luck of the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, which is Monday, March 17, 2008.

Although St. Patrick’s Day may be on a Monday, it will surely be an extra-busy day at all of the theme parks across town since it is in the midst of Spring Break season as well. But while you may run into slighty larger than normal crowds, you should also know that Disney has extended their theme park hours on this day to accommodate everyone! The Magic Kingdom Park will be open from 8 a.m.-11 p.m., with the Wishes fireworks spectacular at 10 p.m. and two SpectroMagic parades at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Epcot will have their same hours, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. with Illuminations: Refelctions of Earth at closing, while Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be open from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. with showings of Fantasmic! at both 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Finally, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., and any guest staying at a Walt Disney World Resort can enjoy Extra Magic Evening Hours at this park after it closes (or you can hit up Disney’s Hollywood Studios an extra hour early in the morning!).

If the theme parks are in your St. Patrick’s Day plans, it will probably be a good idea for your family to plan your day wisely to ensure that you get the most out of your day. One way to do that is by purchasing a park hopper ticket, which will allow you to hop back and forth from one theme park to the next all in the same day! The park hopper ticket is a little more expensive than a regular base ticket, which will get you into one park only per day, but that is where DWTickets.com comes in! We offer deeply discounted Disney World tickets (along with tickets to Universal, Sea World and other attractions in the area) for you and and your family, so don’t wait until you get to the parks to get your tickets – click here to get them now! We also offer delivery or pick-up options, so you can even have your tickets in hand by the time you arrive in Florida on vacation!

Once you have your tickets in hand, it is time to discover what all Disney has to offer on St. Patrick’s Day. While you can find special things going on inside the parks, Downtown Disney Pleasure Island will be the hub of activities on and around St. Patrick’s Day. On March 14, 15 and 17, 2008, Downtown Disney Pleasure Island will be hosting a special St. Patrick’s Day extravaganza from 7 p.m.-2 a.m. each evening. In addition to all of the fun going on inside the clubs, there will be live music, stilt walkers, leprechauns and more roaming around Downtown Disney Pleasure Island. And, as always, the common area, where all of this activity will be going on, is free to everyone of all ages, although you do have to pay one flat admission for access into the clubs and bars at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island.

Downtown Disney Pleasure Island may also be the place to be in all of Central Florida on St. Patrick’s Day itself, as the Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant will be hosting their biggest and best holiday bash ever! This Irish pub is the newest addition to the scene at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island, and it is truly as close to the real thing as it comes. This year’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities include the U2 tribute band ‘U2 Elevation’ (back by popular demand), Tuskar Rock, which will be playing sets all day, friendly competitions, giveaways and lots of green clothing (including kilts)! All of the mayhem starts at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 16 and doesn’t end until 2 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18! While there is usually no cover charge for this establishment, there will be one on these dates. For reservations to the Ragland Road Irish Pub and Restaurant, call (407) WDW-DINE.May the luck of the Irish be with you!

Advice for the Theme Park Weary

If you are planning a vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort your plans are surely centered around your visits to and from the four world class theme parks on the Disney property. And while these four parks have more entertainment options than one could take in during one vacation, there are undoubtedly going to be times during your vacation that you want to get away from the madness of the parks to just relax and enjoy everything else that the Walt Disney World Resort has to offer. To help prepare you for those rare down times, DWTickets.com has assembled some helpful tips of things you can do away from the parks, whether you have half a day off or a full day to occupy your time. Keep reading below for more details!
  • If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, which we highly suggest due to the amount of benefits you receive, one of the best things you can do with downtime is to explore your resort and all of the other hotels on property. Each one has a distinct personality and theme that is reflected through everything from the hotel rooms themselves to the architecture of the buildings and the activities/pools on the hotel grounds. If you are not staying at a deluxe resort, you might want to venture to one of them, especially the Magic Kingdom Park resorts around the Seven Seas Lagoon (you can easily access any of them via the monorail at the Ticket and Transportation Center). Another way to fully experience one of the resorts is by booking a full-service meal at one, as the hotels have some of the top-rated restaurants in all of Central Florida incorporated into them.

  • While the Walt Disney World Resort has some great shopping (Downtown Disney is a great place for one-stop souvenir shopping), it doesn’t compare to the shopping that local area malls and outlets provide! With two of the largest outlet malls in the southeast, the Prime Outlets and Premium Outlets, only a few miles away, along with two malls with every story you can imagine (the Florida Mall and Mall at Millenia), Orlando has turned into a shopping mecca over the last few years. If you are looking to stay on a budget, you can get designer duds for a cheap price at the outlets, or if you are looking for the real thing, the Mall at Millenia is the place for you to go for all of the best in designer merchandise in town!

  • Want to fuel your competitive juices while on vacation? Try a round of golf at one of Disney’s five championship golf courses, or for those less skilled, you can always test your hand at Disney’s two miniature golf courses. Of course, these aren’t the only courses in town to choose from – mini golf course line the streets of Lake Buena Vista and Kissimmee, and Orlando is one of the top spots in the country for competitive golf courses due to the year-round seasonable climate. A day on the links just may be the perfect way for you to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Disney parks! In addition to some of the best shopping options in the state, Orlando also has some of the best restaurants in the entire country! You can find a restaurant for every taste bud in the Orlando area, and you have plenty of affordable options to choose from as well. However, if you are looking to make an entire night out of your dinner, we suggest taking in an area dinner show. These dinner shows are several hours long and offer unlimited food and drinks, as well as spectacular entertainment for the whole family. And, exclusively here at DWTickets.com, you can purchase discounted dinner show tickets for your whole family! We offer these discounted tickets to Arabian Nights, the Pirates Dinner Theatre, Medieval Times, the Makahiki Luau at Sea World and Tony and Tina’s Wedding dinner show, and any of these shows are guaranteed to give you a whole new dinner experience!

  • Finally, Disney has a plethora of recreation options for those who want to relax and see a different side of Disney. The Walt Disney World Resort has everything from luxurious spas, boat rentals for the many waterways across property, bike rentals, horseback excursions and even the Richard Petty Driving Experience, which allows you to step into a real stock for the ride of your life! These activities are only the tip of the iceberg of things to do while you are at Disney, so be sure to check with your resort if you are staying at a hotel on property for a complete list of activities and ideas of things to do while you are visiting.

No matter what activities you plan for your time outside the parks, we would also like to keep your theme park plans as stress-free as possible. That is why we are proud to be your No. 1 online source for discounted tickets to Walt Disney World, Sea World Orlando, Universal Orlando and all of the other top Central Florida attractions. If you are planning a trip to Central Florida, be sure to start right here at DWTickets.com!

Once you arrive, the excitement is palpable; almost a being in itself. Whether its your first time or fiftieth, you still feel that magic when you pass through the archway onto Main Street, U.S.A.

The first thing that hits you is the smell of fresh popcorn. As you walk further and absorb your surroundings, you drift back in time to another era. Except for the hustle and bustle of fellow park guests, you feel transported to turn-of-the-century middle America.

Boutiques line both sides of the street:
· The Chapeau (closed for rehab and expansion through March 18)
· Disney Clothiers
· The Emporium
· Uptown Jewelers (popular pin trading locale)
· Town Square Exposition Hall (film and batteries, just in case)

Immediately overhead as you pass through the entrance gateway is the Walt Disney World Railroad. This true Disney classic has been around since the Magic Kingdom opened in 1971. You can enjoy a 20-minute ride around the park or opt to “disembark” in Frontierland or Mickey’s Toontown Fair.

If you prefer a relaxing ride down Main Street U.S.A., hop aboard one of the Main Street Vehicles. You can be carried through the town in style in your choice of turn-of-the-century transports: Horse car – Omnibus – Jitney – Horseless carriage – Fire engine.
