Personal Favorites: Disney's Hollywood Studios

Who doesn’t love going to the movies? Better yet, who doesn’t love feeling like they are a part of the movies? This is what I love about Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There is a different kind of magic here at this Orlando theme park. While the Magic Kingdom gives you the fairytale feeling and Epcot takes you to foreign lands and the future, Disney’s Hollywood Studios gives you a variety of attractions that aren’t only a ton of fun, but they’re interactive as well.

Stunts are a huge part of movies, especially all the big action flicks. At the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Show Spectacular you get to see some of the best scenes from the legendary Indiana Jones movies recreated right before your eyes. Whether it’s fighting under a revolving plane with deadly propellers or escaping from a large rolling rock you’ll get to watch “Indy” perform the stunts from the edge of your seat.

If you’re a fan of the Muppets like I am, Muppetvision 3D is a Disney Hollywood Studio’s classic. You’ll get to see your favorite Muppets characters go on a comedic adventure as they search for a runaway Gonzo. Right between Muppetvision 3D and the classic Sci-Fi Diner is Star Tours. Now, as of October this ride is going to be closing for renovation. I’m sad to see it go, despite the complaints most people have about the ride being outdated. Sure, it is a bit outdated but there is also a huge element of nostalgia to it. I know Star Tours II will be incredible (opening in 2011) but I will miss the original ride.

Speaking of nostalgia, no trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is complete without a visit to The Great Movie Ride. It isn’t as thrilling as the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster or Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror, but seeing a glimpse of the old animatronics re-telling the stories of classic movies like Casablanca and Alien as you head to your final destination of the movie montage set to some of the greatest soundtracks of all time. It may sound cheesy, but that ride always makes me remember why I love movies so much. They can touch Star Tours, but I really hope The Great Movie Ride stays the same. Sometimes nostalgia is a good thing.

Plenty of Outdoor Fun at Awaits at Walt Disney World Resorts

Whether they want to stay in shape or just have some fun away from the parks, guests of the Walt Disney World Resorts will find there is more than enough to keep them occupied outdoors. From tennis to horseback riding and waterskiing, the range of options is unbelievable.

If you are into sports, you will be more than happy with the tennis and volleyball facilities available at multiple Disney resorts. Better yet, you won’t have to bring a thing – equipment is available for checkout. And if you want to brush up on your tennis game, you can even get instruction from a pro at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

Perhaps you’re more of an exerciser than an athlete – several of the Walt Disney World Resorts offer jogging trails with varied scenery and terrain. You can jog through wilderness, around lagoons, or past scenic shores, all at your own pace. Bikes are also available for rental, with multiple winding paths, waterfront walkways, and scenic trails for bikers to enjoy. You can even make the outing a family event with four-passenger surreys. Don’t bother bringing a helmet – Disney has got you covered.

Need the kids to burn off some extra energy from that gigantic mountain of cotton candy they ate at the park? Plenty of Disney resorts offer playgrounds, some open specific hours and some open 24 hours a day. Children can run, climb, slide, and swing to their hearts’ content, all in a fun, safe environment filled with imaginative sculptures and creative play areas.

There’s also plenty of opportunity for family bonding with outdoor activities such as miniature golf and horseback riding. Experience Disney’s two miniature golf courses, Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course and Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course, for some fun through these musical and interactive courses that will have the whole family smiling. Or, ride a horse or pony, or horse-drawn carriage through Central Florida’s wilderness.

Finally, guests of the resort should be sure to take advantage of all the water activities available. Guests can reel in some fish, sun, and fun with two-hour excursions in the lakes of the Walt Disney World Resort. Up to five guests can trek out with Disney’s experienced guides, who also provide rods and reels, tackle, artificial and live bait, beverages, and a one-year BASS membership. Specialized cruises are also available for parties, as are a fleet of motorized and non-motorized watercraft for rental. Or try your hand at wakeboarding, waterskiing, parasailing, or tubing – there’s no end to all the fun in the water.

So no matter what you choose, there’s plenty of fun and adventure to be had in the outdoors of the Walt Disney Resorts. And getting started is easy when you book your discount Disney tickets at DWTickets.com – it’s deciding which activity to do after a day at the park that’s hard!

Disney’s Contemporary Resort Is Made Modern Again

Orlando is undoubtedly the theme park capital of the world, and DWTickets.com is the king of the theme park ticket world. We consistently offer the best discounts on Orlando theme park tickets and give you great tips and pointers to make your Florida vacation one-of-a-kind. Once you get your cheap park tickets at DWTickets.com, it's time to research and decide on accommodations, and Walt Disney World is home to several resorts that could qualify as attractions on their own! Here at your DWTickets.com blog, we always give you the most up-to-date information about all of the Orlando theme parks and the best hotels in the area are part of that package.

All of the Walt Disney World resorts are unique and distinctive in their own way, but one of the most spectacular and recognizable icons is Disney's Contemporary Resort. It is gigantic - the tallest thing visible for miles - and its slate gray exterior stacks up to form an enormous A-frame that had its point lopped off by the axe of some fairy tale giant. Even more extraordinary to the newcomer's eye is the fact that the monorail seems to be swallowed up by the hotel as it makes its way from the parking lot to the Magic Kingdom.

When it first opened, the Contemporary Resort stood high and proud as a modern marvel of guest service excellence. It still is quite extraordinary, but like any 30-plus year old facility needed a bit of a face lift. The resort recently embarked on a rehabilitation project that includes the demolition of guest rooms not located in the tower. (This is rumored to be making room for the addition of some Disney Vacation Club Villas.) Some areas are being knocked down and others are being built up. Dining options have expanded, the game room climbed three floors, new shops on the horizon and all of the guest rooms have been redesigned with the latest electronics and up-to-the-minute decorating details. Exclusive to the renovated Contemporary Resort, is Disney's Online Concierge, a feature that puts all of your guest service needs at your virtual fingertips on the computer that graces each guest room in the hotel.

Walt Disney World is a model of guest service, and continues to update their parks and hotels to live up to the vision that Walt Disney himself put forth. Here at DWTickets.com, we also strive to provide all of our customers with the best deals they can find on discount Disney tickets and the latest in Orlando vacation news.

Spaceship Earth Updates on the Way

The icon of Epcot is getting a makeover just in time for the park's 25-year anniversary. A few weeks ago, we told you that this futuristic theme park at Walt Disney World was turning 25. And no matter how old you are, DWTickets.com is your best source for cheap tickets to come on down and celebrate this quarter-century milestone.

Spaceship Earth has always been the focal point for the second Walt Disney World Theme Park and is a huge favorite for many of the park's guests. What Epcot visitor doesn't have a vacation photo in front of the big golf ball? One complaint of late, however, was that the ride had become outdated, perhaps even boring. Not wanting to be left behind - it is supposed to be a futuristic journey after all - Disney recently announced that their imagineers will soon present EPCOT guests with a "re-imagined" Spaceship Earth.

The premise of the ride has always been an historical travel through time. It takes you on a visual journey through the history of the world, from the beginning of time to the farthest edges of the future. The rehab will enhance each guest's trip with new scenes, light effects, refreshed costumes and sets, and brand new narrative and music. The "time machines" that transport guests throughout their adventure will be equipped with touch screens that allow riders to join in and create their own vision for the future.

The new Spaceship Earth has been made possible by a partnership between Disney and Siemens, a 150-year-old company specializing in electronics and electrical engineering. Both companies say the partnership is a great match because they are "committed to innovation." And that is what Epcot is all about! The Siemens' presence will also be displayed at the exit of Spaceship Earth with "Project Tomorrow: Inventing the World of Tomorrow." an exhibit where guests can play and learn even more after they disembark from their journey through the past and future.

For those of you planning your vacation now, the new and improved Spaceship Earth Pavilion is expected to be fully open at EPCOT in Spring of 2008, but the new ride should be up and running in the next few weeks. DWTickets.com has the best deals on discount Walt Disney World admission packages, so order up now and be ready to experience the newest EPCOT attraction with it reopens next year!

Disney Cruises!!!

Have you ever wanted to take a cruise, but you're not a fan of the high seas? If that is the case, or if you just want a nice, relaxing way to end your day at the Walt Disney World Resort, then Walt Disney World's specialty cruises just may be for you.

Every night at the Walt Disney World Resort, guests set sail on fantasy excursions on one of Walt Disney World's many lakes and lagoons. There are two kinds of specialty cruises you can choose from - the Grand1 Specialty Cruise and the Celebration Cruise. The Grand1 Specialty Cruise is the ultimate party aboard one of the grandest yachts anywhere in Central Florida. You and your party will hop on board this luxurious 45-foot liner at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and take to the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake in style. Or, if you prefer a smaller, more intimate gathering, try the Celebration Cruise. You can invite up to eight or 10 people, depending upon the size of the boat, to join you onboard. Both the Grand1 Specialty Cruise and the Celebration Cruise will take you out on the water to see the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks lit up in the distance. You can choose from a variety of festivities while on board, including having your cruise catered, and you will cap off your evening as you drop anchor for prime viewing of one of the Walt Disney World Resort's world-famous fireworks displays. You can also choose which location you would like to end up at - either in front of the Magic Kingdom Park or at Epcot. Either way, these specialty cruises are a magical way to cap of any Walt Disney World Resort vacation experience.

All specialty cruises must be reserved prior to launch. For the Grand1 Specialty Cruise, call 407-824-2682 for reservations, and for the Celebration Cruise, call 407-939-2329.

While this may just be one stop on your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, we know the theme parks will probably be next on your to-do list. And, as always, you can get your discounted Disney tickets right here at DW Tickets, the best deals in town!

Fireworks at Disney!!

Every Summer, there's one thing kids look forward to: The Fourth of July and the Fireworks displays the holiday brings. The flashy colors and loud explosions are something most kids just can't get enough of. You don't have to wait for the 4th to see some great Fireworks, though. Just check out any of the displays at Disney!

Most nights, the Magic Kingdom at Disney World presents the "Wishes" Fireworks show. This 12-minute display pays tribute to the spirit of Disney: making dreams come true. Besides a wonderful firework display, kicked off by Tinkerbell, guests get to experience the message through audio, too. Sing along to your favorite Disney tracks and watch your kids faces light up as they hear their favorite characters speak as well. The shows creators also carefully planned each firework and sound effect to match up perfectly. You are not going to want to miss this one! Make sure you show up early so you'll get the perfect spot.

Any Disney fan knows the classic movie Fantasia, where Mickey plays magician and commands mops to dance. Experience this magic first hand when you check out "Fantasmic!" Based on the move, this show features Mickey battling Disney villains and stunning effects that are not limited to Fireworks. The show also features lasers, animation and more! For those who are sight or hearing impaired, "Fantasmic!" offers Captioning and special listening receivers to help you keep up with the show. It is also wheelchair and scooter friendly.

That's not all. On special nights, you and your kids can see all kinds of special firework effects at the "SpectroMagic" parade. Your favorite characters, Mickey included, come together to march in this awesome parade that is sure to entertain kids and adults alike. With over 100 miles of fiber optics cables and 250,000 lights, this is a show like no other. Check with Guest relations if you are in need of special access to the route, as most shows offer areas for those with disabilities.

Finally, we have IllumiNations. As you might have guessed from the name, this show pays tribute to the world we live in by having an earth globe show the wonders of the world as fireworks go off around it. You'll also be treated to original music designed for the show to add to the magical experience. Lasers are also a part of the show. What better way to introduce a child to the vast world that surrounds them? IllumiNations is designed, as are the other shows, to allow those who are confined to wheelchairs or scooters to have access as well.

If you're looking for some great fireworks displays that are truly unique, there's no need to wait for the 4th of July! Just take a trip to Disney World and see some of the best there is any time of the year. For the best deals, check out DW Tickets for the best discounted Disney tickets around! You won't be sorry!!!

Spaceship Earth Looks to the Future!

Walt Disney World is giving one of its oldest rides a face lift soon. Ever since 1982, Epcot's Spaceship Earth, has been a slow-moving ride that showcases the inventions of the past and present. However, by 2008 it will also encompass the future. The ride's new "time machines" will soon include touch screens that allow riders to design and view their own visions of the future.

The change came about after Spaceship Earth's sponsor changed from AT&T to Siemens. The new sponsor wanted to showcase some of its own technology, thus was born "Project Tommorow: Inventing the World of Tomorrow."As guests are getting off the ride they will be able to play with more new additions. The exhibit will include a 3-D body game, a driving video simulation game, and a illuminated globe.

The renovations will be fully completed by 2008, but many additions have already been made. Check it out for yourself and purchase your discount Disney tickets today!

EPCOT turns 25 Years Old

On October 1, 2007; EPCOT at the Walt Disney World resort will be celebrating its Silver Anniversary. Twenty-five years ago EPCOT was born. "EPCOT" stands for Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow, and was a vision of Walt Disney before he passed away. This "community of the future" opened in 1982 and featured a "future world" with innovative approaches to theme park ride technology. It took Disney World Co. three years to build EPCOT, starting in 1979, and the total cost was $1.4 billion.

EPCOT is now called Epcot park and hosts many events such as the Annual Food and Wine Festival as well as the Flower and Garden Festival. The World Showcase at Epcot features countries from all over the world with rides, attractions, shops, and restaurants. Future World is home of Spaceship Earth, the gigantic silver geosphere that is the trademark icon of the park. Epcot is also home to SOARIN', Mission Space, and Test Track. Come to the Walt Disney World resort and help celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Epcot Park, and have a happy and safe Memorial Day Weekend!

"Haunted" High School Musical

The Disney Channel hit a major chord in a very big way with their "High School Musical". Already having major success with a best selling soundtrack and astounding viewership numbers, "Haunted High School Musical" is slated to open on the big-screen in 2008. The new motion picture is in pre-production at the current time, and should be out just in time for Halloween of 2008 to go along with its scary theme. The entire cast will be back including Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Corbin Bleu and Lucas Grabeel for the motion picture, and High School Musical 2 will be going straight to DVD later this summer.

The Walt Disney Co. is extremely excited about the enormous success of this project, and it looks like the High School Musical franchise is off and running. Other Disney movies set to be released onto the big screen this summer include : Ratatouille, and The Game Plan featuring "The Rock". It should be a very exciting summer for the Disney movie production studio as many projects are in the works. I will keep you posted for any other news regarding release dates of these movies and future Disney projects. Have a great week and enjoy the Year of a Million Dreams at the Walt Disney World resort.

Magic Kingdom Attractions - Fantasyland

Well - as we're roaring into May, Disney World is heating up and getting ready for Summer break. Since all the kids will be out of school sooner than later, I thought I'd talk about some of the most popular attractions for children - which all can be found at The Magic Kingdom in Fantasyland. Dumbo The Flying Elephant is one of the most popular rides among kids. Centered in the heart of Fantasyland at Disney's Magic Kingdom, Dumbo will take your kids soaring through the sky and spin around the carousel. The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is also a popular ride with everyone's favorite honey-obsessed bear - Pooh. Riders sit down in a giant honeypot and go on an adventure from cartoon-land. Peter Pan's Flight takes you into the clouds and on a journey to Neverland. Beware of Captain Hook's pirate ship or you might be held captive!

Snow White's Scary Adventures takes you through the world of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, where the wicked witch is waiting to cast her evil spell. Each of the different cars are named after the Seven Dwarfs, so make sure you don't climb in with Dopey. "Its a Small World" puts you on a boat where you travel to lands of different cultures and continents, all while singing "It's A Small World, After all." Fact is, it really isn't such as small world as there are so many more rides and attractions, you'll just have to take your kids to Disney World and see for yourself.

Events Going on In and Around Orlando

TGIF - this is your official DW Blog Man wishing everyone a very happy Friday and a great weekend. Just wanted to share some new and exciting events that are happening around Orlando. First of all, Congratulations are in order for the Orlando Magic, who have made the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2003. The Orlando Magic will be playing the Detroit Pistons in the 1st Round of the 2007 NBA Playoffs, and will be hosting two games in Orlando on Thursday, April 26, and Saturday April 28 at Amway Arena. GO MAGIC !

New in town is the Tommy Bahama Cafe on International Drive. The Tommy Bahama store has been around a while in Pointe Orlando, right in the heart of the tourist district, but now a delicious cafe has opened. The drink specials are great, the food is hearty, and the atmosphere is relaxed. The Flower and Garden Festival is still going strong at EPCOT in Disney World, and will be running until the beginning of June. There is a rumor that SOARIN' at EPCOT will be turned into "SOARIN' over America" by 2008. Currently, the ride is all about the state of California, but the new edition is in the works. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and see you down here in Orlando, Florida !

Disney MGM Studios

MGM Studios is a great way to spend the day saluting Hollywood's Golden Age of movie-making. MGM Studios is Walt Disney World's third theme park, dedicated to the history of films, movie adventures, and classic Hollywood designs. From Star-Tours virtual reality experience where you feel like Luke Skywalker flying in outer-space, to Aerosmith's Rockin' Rollercoaster taking you upside-down in the dark.. Disney's MGM Studios is a great place to visit. You can go on a back-lot tour and see new set designs for future movies coming out, as well as famous soundstages from the past.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror gets scarier every year, and is one of my favorite rides of all time. When that scary music starts playing and you start the 13-story free fall in that haunted elevator shaft, it really gets your blood pumping. The restaurants at MGM Studios are great too - all 1950's themed and wonderful service. Come take a visit to Disney's MGM Studios and ride the movies as well as celebrating Hollywood's famous traditions all in one park.

Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World

The Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort is continuing it's stride in excellence as special amazing additions are taking place. The Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Magic Kingdom has been completely revamped, keeping up with the popularity of the motion picture "Pirates of the Caribbean" and installing Jack Sparrow into the ride. Dreamflight was turned into " Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin" and it very popular among children. Also at Magic Kingdom park, the Alien Encounter was done over, and is now Stitch's Great Escape, which is playing off the popularity of the Lilo & Stitch hit.
The Hall of Presidents in the Liberty Square District of Magic Kingdom Park was recently updated to include George W. Bush. Bill Clinton and George W. Bush are the only actual U.S. Presidents who give a speech to the audience inside the attraction other than Abraham Lincoln. In Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom, Carousel of Progress was updated to include the 21st century in the scenes and stage design for the last act.
There are so many great things going on at Walt Disney World, you must come down and check it out today! To see some of the best discounts for Walt Disney World Tickets, CLICK HERE! Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort is a place where dreams actually do come true, fantasies are more like reality and you can take part in the happiest celebration on Earth.

The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World

The Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort has forever been known as "The Happiest Place on Earth". Another big weekend is among us in America's # 1 attraction destination - Orlando, FL. We are heading into April, and the mercury is climbing on the thermomater as Spring has finally arrived. Walt Disney World is as popular as ever, with 4 amazing parks headed by Magic Kingdom and Epcot, as well as 2 refreshing water parks in Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Everything down here is peaking, and thousands of people are coming to Florida everyday to experience the magic of Walt Disney World. Today I wanted to write about my favorite park - Disney's Magic Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom is the original theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort, and after 30 years - still going strong. There is nothing like getting off the monorail, walking through Magic Kingdom's main gates, and seeing Cinderella's Castle from afar.

As you walk down Mainstreet USA at Magic Kingdom, you can smell the popcorn and freshly-baked cookies from the MainStreet Bakery, and cotton candy and soda from the charming sidewalk shoppes. Once you pass through the main corridor, you walk under Cinderella's Castle and on to Fantasyland. My favorite rides are Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and Space Mountain. The Haunted Mansion has always remained a timeless classic, as has the Hall of Presidents, which just added Ronald Regan and Bill Clinton to the mix. From the daily mid-afternoon parades to the firework shows at night, Disney's Magic Kingdom is simply amazing from your first step off the train. Seeing the look on kids faces when Mickey Mouse, Winnie The Pooh, and Snow White pose with them for pictures is priceless. No wonder Disney World is the happiest place on earth - you never want to leave. Have a good weekend everyone, and I hope to see you out there at the parks.

PLEASURE ISLAND

TGIF everyone ! That's right - today is Friday, and the weekend is among us. I'm very excited to welcome in ESPN and the whole crew from Bristol, Connecticut for ESPN - The Weekend at MGM Studios. The roster of sports celebrities is incredible, and it should be a great time for the entire family. If you want to read more about ESPN - The Weekend, you can read my blog from last week right here...

Since it is Friday however, I wanted to talk about one of the coolest, most happening places on Disney World property -Pleasure Island. Pleasure Island is made up of a cluster of bars, nightclubs, and dance studios that makes you feel like it is New Year's Eve every single night of the year. There are a variety of clubs for everyone and always something cool going on at Pleasure Island. A couple weeks ago for Fat Tuesday they had something called "Party Gras". A lively New Orleans style street party with jugglers, stilt walkers, live entertainment and loads of Mardi Gras beads filled the streets of Pleasure Island, and it was a great time. In a few weeks for St. Patrick's Day, there will be a party for 3 nights from 7pm-2am ! The luck of the Irish will be in the air as everyone can celebrate this holiday with leprechauns, Irish artist videos, stilt walkers, live bands, DJ's, and lots of green beer ! Who would not want to come out and see stilt walkers - which seems to be a Pleasure Island speciality. This is all I'm going to write today, because I expect to see everyone out tonight at either Pleasure Island, or ESPN - The Weekend at Disney. This is the DW Tickets Blog Man signing off, and wishing everyone a great weekend. To buy Pleasure Island tickets, click here !

Water Park Fun .... AND MORE !

It looks like Florida's one month season known as "Winter" is wrapping up, and the temperatures are climbing back to the 70's and 80's. Spring Break is around the corner, the skies are blue and sunny, and there is a buzz in the air all over Central Florida! Sweaters and jackets are being swapped for tank tops and board shorts, and the water parks around town are cranking up into high gear.

For the next 6 months, your visit to Walt Disney World cannot just be about theme parks - it's time to take advantage of this beautiful weather and cool off in the H2O. There is nothing that gets me more excited than knowing I have the option to leave my Walt Disney Resort theme park in the afternoon, cruise over to Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, or my hotel pool - and get in the water ! Obviously the hotel pool is a nice place to kick back and relax, but this is Walt Disney World, and I want some action. The Disney Water Park Fun & More ticket is truly a stoke of genius. Water Park Fun & More passes allow me to start my day at any one of my favorite Disney theme parks such as : Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM Studios, or Animal Kingdom.... and then go to Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, DisneyQuest, Pleasure Island (at night) or the Wide World of Sports Complex. I can add more attractions, days, and value to my ticket for just a tiny increase in price. The flexibility makes me feel like I own the place, and I can see pretty much everything I want.
To buy Water Park Fun & More tickets, click here!

Last night, after coming back from dinner at Epcot, I used my Water Park Fun & More ticket to get into Pleasure Island, and the nightclub scene was pretty intense. I felt like I was in South Beach or L.A. and the variety of music inside the clubs was fantastic. I'm going to save some energy though, because next weekend I'll be at Disney's ESPN : The Weekend at MGM Studios, and if you read my last blog -you'll know just how amazing of a time it will be. Until next time, this is the Official DW Tickets Blog man signing off. Have a great weekend!
